Fits
Community Fits, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to positively impacting the lives of youth. We are committed to empowering youth through creative outlets, particularly in the realm of fashion and textile arts. By offering skill-building opportunities, our programs enable young individuals to explore their creativity, learn valuable fashion-related skills, and open doors to new opportunities. Additionally, we emphasize overall wellness and emotional intelligence, approaching programs from a trauma-informed lens. Our organization is rooted in evidence-based practices, leveraging research and best practices to inform our programs and interventions. We hope to invoke community healing and foster a supportive community for youth to thrive.

Machine Upcycling: Patchwork Pants
Friday, September 13 (5:00 PM – 8:30 PM)
Learn sewing machine basics, upcycling techniques, and patchwork. Bring a pair of pants to work on at the end of class and practice patchwork for repair or style.
Satin & Sew: Bonnet & Scrunchies
Friday, September 20 (5:00 PM – 8:30 PM)
Learn to sew a custom satin bonnet and matching scrunchies. All materials are provided.
Slit & Sip (Slit Weaving)
Thursday, September 26 (6:00 PM – 8:00 PM)
Learn the basics of slit weaving and basic hand sewing. All supplies and one drink are included. Bring a stretchy knit item to transform. BYOB welcome.
Machine Quilting 101
Friday, September 27 (5:00 PM – 8:30 PM)
A beginner-friendly class covering quilting basics. Make a 4-square quilt using eco-friendly materials while learning to layer, piece, add bias tape, and stitch it all together.
2nd Stitch: Upcycled Denim Bag
Monday, September 30 (6:00 PM – 9:30 PM)
Bring your own jeans and transform them into a stylish tote bag. No sewing experience is needed. BYOB welcome.
Community Updates
Soulful Stitches: 6-Week Sew & Show
We are now taking applications for our free Youth Sewing Cohort. This program is designed to teach in-depth sewing fundamentals, creativity, and self-expression, with a fashion showcase at the end.
Join Our Team
We’re looking for someone with fashion design, sewing, and pattern-making experience who aligns with our mission and culture. This role is one weekend day per week (flexible) at $30/hour. Email us your resume if you feel like a great fit.
Grant Writing Volunteer
We’re seeking a volunteer to assist with grant writing. This role may become eligible for compensation from future grant funding. Please email us if you’re interested.
