Community

Fits 

Community Fits is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that creates culturally relevant spaces for creativity, learning, and community connection. Sewing and textile arts are at the center of our work, and through workshops, events, and hands-on programs, we offer equitable opportunities for youth and adults to learn new skills, express themselves, and build confidence. Our trauma-informed, wellness-centered approach ensures that every space supports healing, culture, and meaningful community care.

Machine Quilting Basics 
Date: January 10 • Time: 12:30 pm
Learn the basics of machine quilting, from layering fabric to simple stitching techniques. This session is great for beginners ready to explore quilting and new sewist in a supportive environment. No experience needed! 

 

Bandana Puffer Tote
Date: January 15 • Time: 5:30–9:30 pm
Date: January 17 • Time: 12:00–4:30 pm
Create a cute padded, quilted puffer tote bag using bandana-print fabric. Beginner friendly and perfect for anyone wanting to sew a stylish, functional bag. No experience needed! 

 

Sewing 101 (getting started)
Date: January 16 • Time: 6:00–8:30 pm
Date: January 30 • Time: 6:00–8:30 pm
A beginner sewing class covering machine basics, stitching practice, and the fundamentals needed to start your sewing journey with confidence.

 

Kids Sewing Studio (8-12 years old)
Date: January 24 • Time: 11:00 am–1:30 pm
An intro class for ages 8–12 where kids learn sewing machine basics, build confidence, and complete simple beginner projects in a fun studio environment.

 

Teen Sewing Studio (13-17 years old) 
Date: January 24 • Time: 2:30–5:00 pm
A beginner-friendly sewing session designed for teens to practice machine skills, explore creativity, and prepare for more advanced classes.

 

Working With Patterns
Date: January 31 • Time: 12:30–4:30 pm
Learn how to read and use sewing patterns, cut fabric correctly, and start a pattern-based project. Great for beginners ready to take the next step. No experience needed but some basic knowledge is helpful!
